Love and Honey

Justin and I recently moved to Philadelphia and one of the first places he wanted to visit was Love & Honey Fried Chicken. The restaurant has received a number of accolades including Best in PA by Food Network 2019 and Best in America by The Today Show 2019. The eatery’s restaurant outlines exactly how to order on the Caviar app, which made me think that Love & Honey has more than enough orders to sustain throughout the pandemic. Even when we went to pick up our order, three other customers waited idly by in the sunny heat.

We ordered the OG Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich. I also added a side of tater tots because what’s a great sandwich without a side of fried potatoes?

Upon the first bite, you can instantly taste the buttermilk in the OG sandwich, while I endured the perfect amount of heat from the Nashville-style meal. The spicy slaw adds the perfect texture without overpowering the meat. In addition, I hate pickles but found it completely necessary for both sandwiches because of the crunchy freshness it brings to the meal. We also added a side of house-made Honey Hot Sauce and dipped both our sandwiches and tater tots for an extra pinch of sweet and spicy. Upon finishing, I didn’t feel disgustingly full, which I normally do when I eat a fried chicken sandwich. This portion control makes me feel like I not only got my money’s worth, but also the perfect amount of satisfaction in my belly.
