Ramen in Rockville

In a sad attempt to go to one of the most sought out ramen spots in Montgomery County, my friends and I failed since we encountered a two-hour wait at MAKI. We ended up at Kino Spoon, which turned out to be a cute fast-casual Japanese eatery. The bright pink walls against the lightly colored wood counters and brick wall made this establishment feel homey.When I checked-in on Yelp, Kino Spoon gave a free bubble milk tea to accompany my meal. Although you can't choose from other flavors, it's a nice free touch especially since it was my first time.We ordered fried octopus legs that came out on skewers and an overflowing spicy mayo sauce on the side. Although you only get a few pieces, it's a great portion to split between two people. We also started with takoyaki balls and while the top didn't squirm as it usually does, it comes with a good chunk of octopus on the inside.I ordered the miso ramen (above) and Justin ordered the volcano ramen (below). My miso ramen wasn't anything special, but it accomplished my ramen craving with it's rich broth. Sadly the egg came hard-boiled and I wouldn't add it on again. Justin and I agreed that both our meat embodied dryness since they were chewy and somewhat unpleasing to eat. Beware, the volcano ramen hosted an insane bit of spice, which at the time didn't hit hard, but after the meal it did (if ya know what I mean!). Stomach pains after a meal are the worst.The green tea crepe cake comes with a baby scoop of red bean ice cream and cold red bean on the side. Kino Spoon sprinkled too much Matcha powder on top and the cake needed a bit more sugar since it tasted bland. It's definitely nowhere near a delicious slice from Lady M. Kino Spoon is located on 891 Rockville Pike in Rockville, Maryland.
