A little more Seoul in DC
I can't hold in my excitement for yet another Korean eatery in DC! The day after my birthday, the comfort-food establishment opened its door with free food and sold out that evening! The next day they re-opened with a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of hungry customers eager to try bulgogi filled burritos.I ventured to NoMa solely to try Seoulspice. It's a contemporary pad with beautiful lights hanging throughout the space and plenty of seating for any small or large party. It's a fast-casual joint similarly set up like Chipotle, you choose a style (bowl, korrito, taco or salad), pick a protein (beef, chicken, spicy pork, tofu), top it off with your choice of veggies (there's so many to choose from!) and add a final touch of sauce and dry toppings. Extras (not included in the price of a style meal) is "the egg," tub of kimchi and avocado. There's also pre-chosen signature combinations to help anyone who can't decide what to eat. Don't forget a beverage before checking out! It's great to see that yogurt-soju cocktail (my favorite!) comes on tap, with other Asian imported drinks also available. Health nut? There's house-made juices for you too. Justin ordered a bibimbap, rice bowl with spicy pork with bean sprouts, kimchi, radish, avocado, egg, cilantro and cilantro-line ranch. That egg is to die for.It oozes perfectly and pairs well with the entire dish. It's a unique twist as a fried egg is the usual bibimbap component.I ordered tacos with beef, tofu and spicy pork and added bean sprouts, radish, kale slaw, kimchi, creamy sriracha, avocados, cilantro and scallions. The dish tastes clean and it's a great take on Korean-American food. Stop by for lunch or dinner and take a look at No Kings Collective's artwork (the pictures don't do it justice). Seoulspice is located on 145 N Street NE. Open 7 days a week from 11 am to 10 pm.
