Sundaze

Soaking up some Vitamin D in late November.

When you encounter a 65 degree day at the end of November, you relish in the fact that you sadly received a a handful of days embodying crisp, autumn air before reveling in the sunlight. Although I bundled up with my new teddy bear coat, I half wore it as the darker brown complemented my most recent pickup from Kith’s Monday Program. I snagged this hoodie for my sister and her boyfriend, and of course, my husband, while learning that the Kith stores receive the bulk of quantity in comparison to its availability online (duh!).

I completed this look with my Puma Desert Thunders as the pale pink tones went with the light-colored tans in my  outfit. For an extra shine, I snagged my rose gold purse, which my good friend (often referred to as my cousin) gifted me for being her bridesmaid.

Rain makes me blush

I’m so over this endless rain.

It feels like it has been raining for almost two weeks straight.

My streak might be off, but the Washington Post stated that, “In the last 23 days, Washington has received 10.43 inches of rain.” I can’t help but think what 10+ inches of snow would feel like; it’s been awhile since that’s happened.

It looks like we only have one more day of this stormy weather and all will go back to its original summer state of high humidity and sunny skies.

Any sneakerhead knows how frustrating bad weather can be for his/her fits. Today I gave in and instead of wearing my beaters, I decided to toss my my 500s since they paired well with my outfit.

Earlier this year, Uniqlo announced the Hokusai Blue collection, which quickly sold out upon the drop. Thankfully, the Japanese-casual wear company re-released a few pieces from and I picked this shirt up. I love Uniqlo tees, they’re comfortable and the men’s XS fits me perfectly. I styled this shirt with a form-fitting plaid skirt that gives me Clueless vibes for days.

Ps. Caroline if your’e reading this, I’m sorry I used your desk. You get way better lighting than mine does 🙂

ARKYN in four styles

How would you wear this Adidas Originals sneaker?

I visited Justin in Florida recently and took my new Adidas Originals ARKYN sneakers I purchased at MAJOR DC a few months ago. They’ve been sadly sitting in the box for far too long, so I took it upon myself to break them out with four different styles.

Pink satin and culottes

Waiting for fall weather.

If you’re planning to utilize your summer clothes for fall, here’s one way I styled a few pieces for cooler weather. I purchased this off-the-shoulder pink satin top from Forever 21 for less than $8. Throughout the summer, I paired it with jean shorts throughout the hot, muggy day, but for fall I threw on black culottes. The wide-leg bottoms paired with a shift top makes movement easy in a composed manner.

To contrast the dark bottoms, I sported my Pharrell Williams x Adidas Originals Tennis sneakers. The tan structure contrasts against both the dark pants, but the bright pink sole pairs with the shirt.

Shirt: Forever 21.

Pants: Uniqlo.

Sneakers: Pharrell Williams x Adidas Originals.

ARTECHOUSE

A new gallery in DC opens to the public just in time for the summer rush.

The combination of digital technology and artistic talent created a beautiful exhibition featured at ARTECHOUSE, a new gallery making waves in Washington DC. I explored the venue opening day with much excitement. It’s certainly an experience that Instagrammers will fall in love with. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with the end of Yayoi Kusama‘s exhibition at the Hirshhorn, locals will be heading straight here.

Dress: Uniqlo.

Shirt: Kaws x Uniqlo.

2017 Embassy Chef Challenge

An evening of cultural cuisine, drinks and entertainment presented by Events DC.

Events DC’s Embassy Chef Challenge brought more than culinary excellency. The evening included cultural performances ranging from dances to traditional music. I held no expectations other than an empty stomach fully prepared to enjoy anything given to me. I tried cuisine from more than 20  countries and left fully satisfied. Several open bars surrounded the main entrances where performances took place. Select countries offered imported wines and refreshing cocktails that embodied countries’ favorite refreshments. I never waited more than 15 minutes to try a dish, but several countries ran out before the evening could commence. Guess I’ll be back next year to try them all!

Bomber Jacket: Uniqlo.

Shirt: Nintendo x Uniqlo.

Pants: Uniqlo.

Sneakers: Nike Vapormax in Asphalt.

Meet me in Manhattan

Back to the big apple for a short getaway.

For those who don’t know, I’m in love with art. This love derives from my mother who used to sculpt figures back in her college days. While DC more recently began to host big names (think Yayoi Kusama  and Snarkitecture), I regularly venture to New York to see some of my favorite creators, as well as discover new ones.

Below are a few we saw:

  • The Finiliar by Ed Fornieles
  • The Listening Dimension by Olafur Eliasson
    • Sidebar: I previously visited his work in Korea!
  • John McCracken

Bomber: Uniqlo.

Shirt: River Island.

Joggers: Uniqlo.

Sneakers: Adidas NMD.
